      "message": "[PATCH] s390: find_next_{zero}_bit fixes\n\nThe find_next_{zero}_bit primitives on s390* should never return a bit number\nbigger then the bit field size.  In the case of a bitfield that doesn\u0027t end on\na word boundary, an offset that makes the search start at the last word of the\nbit field and the last word doesn\u0027t contain any zero/one bits the search is\ncontinued with a call to find_first_bit with a negative size.  The search\nnormally ends pretty quickly because the words following the bit field contain\na mix of zeros and ones.  But the bit number that is returned in this case is\ntoo big.\n\nTo fix this and additional if to check for this case is needed.       "message": "[PATCH] s390: spin lock retry\n\nSplit spin lock and r/w lock implementation into a single try which is done\ninline and an out of line function that repeatedly tries to get the lock\nbefore doing the cpu_relax().  Add a system control to set the number of\nretries before a cpu is yielded.\n\nThe reason for the spin lock retry is that the diagnose 0x44 that is used to\ngive up the virtual cpu is quite expensive.  For spin locks that are held only\nfor a short period of time the costs of the diagnoses outweights the savings\nfor spin locks that are held for a longer timer.       "message": "[PATCH] s390: debug feature changes\n\nThis patch changes the memory allocation method for the s390 debug feature.\nTrace buffers had been allocated using the get_free_pages() function before.\nTherefore it was not possible to get big memory areas in a running system due\nto memory fragmentation.  Now the trace buffers are subdivided into several\nsubbuffers with pagesize.  Therefore it is now possible to allocate more\nmemory for the trace buffers and more trace records can be written.\n\nIn addition to that, dynamic specification of the size of the trace buffers is\nimplemented.  It is now possible to change the size of a trace buffer using a\nnew debugfs file instance.  When writing a number into this file, the trace\nbuffer size is changed to \u0027number * pagesize\u0027.\n\nIn the past all the traces could be obtained from userspace by accessing files\nin the \"proc\" filesystem.  Now with debugfs we have a new filesystem which\nshould be used for debugging purposes.       "message": "[PATCH] smp_processor_id() cleanup\n\nThis patch implements a number of smp_processor_id() cleanup ideas that\nArjan van de Ven and I came up with.\n\nThe previous __smp_processor_id/_smp_processor_id/smp_processor_id API\nspaghetti was hard to follow both on the implementational and on the\nusage side.\n\nSome of the complexity arose from picking wrong names, some of the\ncomplexity comes from the fact that not all architectures defined\n__smp_processor_id.\n\nIn the new code, there are two externally visible symbols:\n\n - smp_processor_id(): debug variant.\n\n - raw_smp_processor_id(): nondebug variant. Replaces all existing\n   uses of _smp_processor_id() and __smp_processor_id(). Defined\n   by every SMP architecture in include/asm-*/smp.h.\n\nThere is one new internal symbol, dependent on DEBUG_PREEMPT:\n\n - debug_smp_processor_id(): internal debug variant, mapped to\n                             smp_processor_id().\n\nAlso, i moved debug_smp_processor_id() from lib/kernel_lock.c into a new\nlib/smp_processor_id.c file.       "message": "[PATCH] s390: uml ptrace fixes\n\nTo make UML build and run on s390, I needed to do these two little\nchanges:\n\n1) UML includes some of the subarch\u0027s (s390) headers. I had to\n   change one of them with the following one-liner, to make this\n   compile. AFAICS, this change doesn\u0027t break compilation of s390\n   itself.\n\n2) UML needs to intercept syscalls via ptrace to invalidate the syscall,\n   read syscall\u0027s parameters and write the result with the result of\n   UML\u0027s syscall processing. Also, UML needs to make sure, that the host\n   does no syscall restart processing.       "message": "[PATCH] freepgt: remove MM_VM_SIZE(mm)\n\nThere\u0027s only one usage of MM_VM_SIZE(mm) left, and it\u0027s a troublesome macro\nbecause mm doesn\u0027t contain the (32-bit emulation?) info needed.  But it too is\nonly needed because we ignore the end from the vma list.\n\nWe could make flush_pgtables return that end, or unmap_vmas.  Choose the\nlatter, since it\u0027s a natural fit with unmap_mapping_range_vma needing to know\nits restart addr.
