      "message": "powerpc/44x: Fix address decoding setup of PCI 2.x cells\n\nThe PCI 2.x cells used on some 44x SoCs only let us configure the decode\nfor the low 32-bit of the incoming PLB addresses. The top 4 bits (this\nis a 36-bit bus) are hard wired to different values depending on the\nspecific SoC in use. Our code used to work \"by accident\" until I added\nsupport for the ISA memory holes and while at it added more validity\nchecking of the addresses.\n\nThis patch should bring it back to working condition.       "message": "powerpc: Fix 64bit memcpy() regression\n\nThis fixes a regression introduced by commit\n25d6e2d7c58ddc4a3b614fc5381591c0cfe66556 (\"powerpc: Update 64bit memcpy()\nusing CPU_FTR_UNALIGNED_LD_STD\").\n\nThis commit allowed CPUs that have the CPU_FTR_UNALIGNED_LD_STD CPU\nfeature bit present to do the memcpy() with unaligned load doubles. But,\nalong with this came a bug where our final load double would read bytes\nbeyond a page boundary and into the next (unmapped) page. RAM self-refresh is enabled in\na bootloader in our case, this is how we saw a difference.  Estimated ca.\n30mA more on 4V battery than the same state before powersaving.\n\nAfter a small research we found that there seems to be a bogus\nsdram_selfrefresh_disable() call at the end of at91_pm_enter() call, which\noverwrites the LPR register with uninitialized value.       "message": "x86: use the right protections for split-up pagetables\n\nSteven Rostedt found a bug in where in his modified kernel\nftrace was unable to modify the kernel text, due to the PMD\nitself having been marked read-only as well in\nsplit_large_page().\n\nThe fix, suggested by Linus, is to not try to \u0027clone\u0027 the\nreference protection of a huge-page, but to use the standard\n(and permissive) page protection bits of KERNPG_TABLE.\n\nThe \u0027cloning\u0027 makes sense for the ptes but it\u0027s a confused and\nincorrect concept at the page table level - because the\npagetable entry is a set of all ptes and hence cannot\n\u0027clone\u0027 any single protection attribute - the ptes can be any\nmixture of protections.\n\nWith the permissive KERNPG_TABLE, even if the pte protections\nget changed after this point (due to ftrace doing code-patching\nor other similar activities like kprobes), the resulting combined\nprotections will still be correct and the pte\u0027s restrictive\n(or permissive) protections will control it.\n\nAlso update the comment.\n\nThis bug was there for a long time but has not caused visible\nproblems before as it needs a rather large read-only area to\ntrigger. Steve possibly hacked his kernel with some really\nlarge arrays or so.       "message": "[IA64] Revert \"prevent ia64 from invoking irq handlers on offline CPUs\"\n\nThis reverts commit e7b140365b86aaf94374214c6f4e6decbee2eb0a.\n\nCommit e7b14036 removes the targetted disabled CPU from the\ncpu_online_map after calls to migrate_platform_irqs and fixup_irqs.\n\nPaul McKenney states that the reasoning behind the patch was to\nprevent irq handlers from running on CPUs marked offline because:\n\n\tRCU happily ignores CPUs that don\u0027t have their bits set in\n\tcpu_online_map, so if there are RCU read-side critical sections\n\tin the irq handlers being run, RCU will ignore them.  If the\n\tother CPUs were running, they might sequence through the RCU\n\tstate machine, which could result in data structures being\n\tyanked out from under those irq handlers, which in turn could\n\tresult in oopses or worse.\n\nUnfortunately, both ia64 functions above look at cpu_online_map to find\na new CPU to migrate interrupts onto. The revert hold up under repeated testing (24+ hour test runs)\nwith this setup:\n\n\t- 8-way rx6600\n\t- randomly toggling CPU online/offline state every 2 seconds\n\t- running CPU exercisers, memory hog, disk exercisers, and\n\t  network stressors\n\t- average system load around ~160\n\nIn the long term, we really need to figure out why we set pt_regs \u003d NULL\nin ia64_process_pending_intr().       "message": "[ARM] 5401/1: Orion: fix edge triggered GPIO interrupt support\n\nThe GPIO interrupts can be configured as either level triggered or edge\ntriggered, with a default of level triggered.  When an edge triggered\ninterrupt is requested, the gpio_irq_set_type method is called which\ncurrently switches the given IRQ descriptor between two struct irq_chip\ninstances: orion_gpio_irq_level_chip and orion_gpio_irq_edge_chip. This\nhappens via __setup_irq() which also calls irq_chip_set_defaults() to\nassign default methods to uninitialized ones.  The problem is that\nirq_chip_set_defaults() is called before the irq_chip reference is\nswitched, leaving the new irq_chip (orion_gpio_irq_edge_chip in this\ncase) with uninitialized methods such as chip-\u003estartup() causing a kernel\noops.\n\nMany solutions are possible, such as making irq_chip_set_defaults() global\nand calling it from gpio_irq_set_type(), or calling __irq_set_trigger()\nbefore irq_chip_set_defaults() in __setup_irq().  But those require\nmodifications to the generic IRQ code which might have adverse effect on\nother architectures, and that would still be a fragile arrangement.\nManually copying the missing methods from within gpio_irq_set_type()\nwould be really ugly and it would break again the day new methods with\nautomatic defaults are added.\n\nA better solution is to have a single irq_chip instance which can deal\nwith both edge and level triggered interrupts.       "message": "KVM: Fix racy in kvm_free_assigned_irq\n\nIn the past, kvm_get_kvm() and kvm_put_kvm() was called in assigned device irq\nhandler and interrupt_work, in order to prevent cancel_work_sync() in\nkvm_free_assigned_irq got a illegal state when waiting for interrupt_work done.\nBut it\u0027s tricky and still got two problems:\n\n1. A bug ignored two conditions that cancel_work_sync() would return true result\nin a additional kvm_put_kvm().\n\n2. If interrupt type is MSI, we would got a window between cancel_work_sync()\nand free_irq(), which interrupt would be injected again...\n\nThis patch discard the reference count used for irq handler and interrupt_work,\nand ensure the legal state by moving the free function at the very beginning of\nkvm_destroy_vm().
