      "message": "[S390] Fix TCP/UDP pseudo header checksum computation.\n\ngit commit f994aae1bd8e4813d59a2ed64d17585fe42d03fc changed the\nfunction declaration of csum_tcpudp_nofold. Argument types were\nchanged from unsigned long to __be32 (unsigned int). Therefore we\nlost the implicit type conversion that zeroed the upper half of the\nregisters that are used to pass parameters. Since the inline assembly\nrelied on this we ended up adding random values and wrong checksums\nwere created.\nShowed only up on machines with more than 4GB since gcc produced code\nwhere the registers that are used to pass \u0027saddr\u0027 and \u0027daddr\u0027 previously\ncontained addresses before calling this function.\nFix this by using 32 bit arithmetics and convert code to C, since gcc\nproduces better code than these hand-optimized versions.\n\nCc: Martin Schwidefsky \u003cschwidefsky@de.ibm.com\u003e\nSigned-off-by: Heiko Carstens \u003cheiko.carstens@de.ibm.com\u003e\n"

      "message": "[S390] noexec protection\n\nThis provides a noexec protection on s390 hardware. Our hardware does\nnot have any bits left in the pte for a hw noexec bit, so this is a\ndifferent approach using shadow page tables and a special addressing\nmode that allows separate address spaces for code and data.\n\nAs a special feature of our \"secondary-space\" addressing mode, separate\npage tables can be specified for the translation of data addresses\n(storage operands) and instruction addresses. The shadow page table is\nused for the instruction addresses and the standard page table for the\ndata addresses.\nThe shadow page table is linked to the standard page table by a pointer\nin page-\u003elru.next of the struct page corresponding to the page that\ncontains the standard page table (since page-\u003eprivate is not really\nprivate with the pte_lock and the page table pages are not in the LRU\nlist).\nDepending on the software bits of a pte, it is either inserted into\nboth page tables or just into the standard (data) page table. Pages of\na vma that does not have the VM_EXEC bit set get mapped only in the\ndata address space. Any try to execute code on such a page will cause a\npage translation exception. The standard reaction to this is a SIGSEGV\nwith two exceptions: the two system call opcodes 0x0a77 (sys_sigreturn)\nand 0x0aad (sys_rt_sigreturn) are allowed. They are stored by the\nkernel to the signal stack frame. Unfortunately, the signal return\nmechanism cannot be modified to use an SA_RESTORER because the\nexception unwinding code depends on the system call opcode stored\nbehind the signal stack frame.\n\nThis feature requires that user space is executed in secondary-space\nmode and the kernel in home-space mode, which means that the addressing\nmodes need to be switched and that the noexec protection only works\nfor user space.\nAfter switching the addressing modes, we cannot use the mvcp/mvcs\ninstructions anymore to copy between kernel and user space. Inspired by the ia64 implementation.\n\nUnlike ia64 we need a mechanism which allows us to dynamically attach\nshared memory regions.\nThese memory regions are accessed via the dcss device driver. dcss\nimplements the \u0027direct_access\u0027 operation, which requires struct pages\nfor every single shared page.\nTherefore this implementation provides an interface to attach/detach\nshared memory:\n\nint add_shared_memory(unsigned long start, unsigned long size);\nint remove_shared_memory(unsigned long start, unsigned long size);\n\nThe purpose of the add_shared_memory function is to add the given\nmemory range to the 1:1 mapping and to make sure that the\ncorresponding range in the vmemmap is backed with physical pages.\nIt also initialises the new struct pages.\n\nremove_shared_memory in turn only invalidates the page table\nentries in the 1:1 mapping. The page tables and the memory used for\nstruct pages in the vmemmap are currently not freed. That is done without holding the page table lock.\nThis clashes with the way how ptep_clear_flush removes active page\ntable entries from the system. First the ipte instruction is used\nto invalidate the pte and remove all plt entries for the page. The\nipte sets the hardware invalid bit without changing any other bit.\nAfter the ipte finished the pte is cleared. A concurrent fault can\nobserve the the previously valid pte with the invalid bit set.       "message": "[PATCH] Directed yield: cpu_relax variants for spinlocks and rw-locks\n\nOn systems running with virtual cpus there is optimization potential in\nregard to spinlocks and rw-locks.  If the virtual cpu that has taken a lock\nis known to a cpu that wants to acquire the same lock it is beneficial to\nyield the timeslice of the virtual cpu in favour of the cpu that has the\nlock (directed yield).\n\nWith CONFIG_PREEMPT\u003d\"n\" this can be implemented by the architecture without\ncommon code changes.  Powerpc already does this.\n\nWith CONFIG_PREEMPT\u003d\"y\" the lock loops are coded with _raw_spin_trylock,\n_raw_read_trylock and _raw_write_trylock in kernel/spinlock.c.  If the lock\ncould not be taken cpu_relax is called.  A directed yield is not possible\nbecause cpu_relax doesn\u0027t know anything about the lock.  To be able to\nyield the lock in favour of the current lock holder variants of cpu_relax\nfor spinlocks and rw-locks are needed. The clocksource code\nnow uses do_div() with a base value that has the most\nsignificant bit set.       "message": "[S390] zcrypt user space interface.\n\nThe user space interface of the zcrypt device driver implements the old\nuser space interface as defined by the old z90crypt driver. Everything\nis there, the /dev/z90crypt misc character device, all the lovely ioctls\nand the /proc file. Even writing to the z90crypt proc file to configure\nthe crypto device still works. It stands to reason to remove the proc\nwrite function someday since a much cleaner configuration via the sysfs\nis now available.\n\nThe ap bus device drivers register crypto cards to the zcrypt user\nspace interface. The request router of the user space interface\npicks one of the registered cards based on the predicted latency\nfor the request and calls the driver via a callback found in the\nzcrypt_ops of the device. Multipath devices for which SetPGID is not supported are not handled well.\n   Use NOP ccws for path verification (sans path grouping) when SetPGID is not\n   supported.\n2. Check for PGIDs already set with SensePGID on _all_ paths (not just the\n   first one) and try to find a common one. Moan if no common PGID can be\n   found (and use NOP verification).
