Hence, OProfile must\nmultiplex in time the performance counter collection on the two virtual\nCPUs.\n\nThe multiplexing of the performance counters is done by a virtual\ncounter routine. The virtual sample time is kept relatively small to make sure\nsampling occurs on both CPUs on the node with a relatively small\ngranularity. Whenever the counters overflow, the performance counter\ninterrupt is called to collect the PC for the CPU where data is being\ncollected.\n\nThe oprofile driver relies on a firmware RTAS call to setup the debug bus\nto route the desired signals to the performance counter hardware to be\ncounted. I introduced ioremap_flags() to use by drivers who want to pass\nexplicit flags to ioremap (and it can be hooked).
