      "message": "do_mounts: add device info to mount message\n\nIn the past, I used the root\u003d...  command line parameter to specify the\nroot filesystem to the kernel.  Now it seems that specifying it is not\nnecessary.  The kernel detects the root filesystem even if the kernel\ncommand line is empty.  My root fs is on a raid1 device by the way, and I\nam not using initrd for the boot process.\n\nIf the kernel detects the root filesystem somehow, I think it should print\nout the result of this detection, otherwise I will not know which device\nhas the root filesystem.  Or is there an easy way to get this information\non a running system?       "message": "[PATCH] BLOCK: Make it possible to disable the block layer [try #6]\n\nMake it possible to disable the block layer.  Not all embedded devices require\nit, some can make do with just JFFS2, NFS, ramfs, etc - none of which require\nthe block layer to be present.\n\nThis patch does the following:\n\n (*) Introduces CONFIG_BLOCK to disable the block layer, buffering and blockdev\n     support.\n\n (*) Adds dependencies on CONFIG_BLOCK to any configuration item that controls\n     an item that uses the block layer.  This includes:\n\n     (*) Block I/O tracing.\n\n     (*) Disk partition code.\n\n     (*) All filesystems that are block based, eg: Ext3, ReiserFS, ISOFS.\n\n     (*) The SCSI layer.  As far as I can tell, even SCSI chardevs use the\n     \t block layer to do scheduling.       "message": "[PATCH] root mount failure: emit filesystems attempted\n\nWhen we fail to mount from a valid root device list out the filesystems we\nhave tried to mount it with.  This gives the user vital diagnostics as to\nwhat is missing from their kernel.\n\nFor example in the fragment below the kernel does not have CRAMFS compiled\ninto the kernel and yet appears to recognise it at the RAMDISK detect\nstage.
