"message": "Drivers: hv: vmbus: Implement multi-channel support\n\nStarting with Win8, the host supports multiple sub-channels for a given\ndevice. As in the past, the initial channel offer specifies the device and\nis associated with both the type and the instance GUIDs. For performance\ncritical devices, the host may support multiple sub-channels. The sub-channels\nshare the same type and instance GUID as the primary channel. The number of\nsub-channels offerrred to the guest depends on the number of virtual CPUs\nassigned to the guest. The guest can request the creation of these sub-channels\nand once created and opened, the guest can distribute the traffic across all\nthe channels (the primary and the sub-channels). A request sent on a sub-channel\nwill have the response delivered on the same sub-channel.\n\nAt channel (sub-channel) creation we bind the channel interrupt to a CPU and\nwith this sub-channel support we will be able to spread the interrupt load\nof a given device across all available CPUs.\n\nSigned-off-by: K. "message": "Drivers: hv: Add a new driver to support host initiated backup\n\nThis driver supports host initiated backup of the guest. On Windows guests,\nthe host can generate application consistent backups using the Windows VSS\nframework. On Linux, we ensure that the backup will be file system consistent.\nThis driver allows the host to initiate a \"Freeze\" operation on all the mounted\nfile systems in the guest. Once the mounted file systems in the guest are frozen,\nthe host snapshots the guest\u0027s file systems. Once this is done, the guest\u0027s file\nsystems are \"thawed\".\n\nThis driver has a user-level component (daemon) that invokes the appropriate\noperation on all the mounted file systems in response to the requests from\nthe host. The duration for which the guest is frozen is very short - a few seconds.\nDuring this interval, the diff disk is comitted.\n\nIn this version of the patch I have addressed the feedback from Olaf Herring.\nAlso, some of the connector related issues have been fixed.\n\nSigned-off-by: K. "message": "Staging: hv: fix up driver registering mess\n\nIndividual drivers should never be touching the \u0027struct device\u0027 field,\nso if that is a requirement to pass to the vmbus core, you know\nsomething is wrong.\n\nThis patch fixes that all up, and resolves the problem where the module\nreference counting was not happening properly for the individual drivers\nas well. Overall, it reduces the lines of code the individual drivers\nhave to have, which tells you that this is the correct thing to do.\n\nAlso, somehow the _GPL marking for the functions got removed on an older\npatch. As the name of the function was changing, properly change the\n_GPL marking as well at the same time.\n\nCc: K. Y.
